Grimme had previously run a close race for the District Court race in 2016 and had announced in October that he had decided to run for the seat previously vacated by Judge Fred A. Stine.
He told Fort Thomas Matters he has since spent hours thinking about the campaign and has been discussing it with his family and friends.
"There are several reasons why I decided to run when I announced in October, but, I have always had some reservations," said Grimme.

Grimme is a partner at Fessler, Schneider and Grimme, a law firm based in Fort Thomas. He was recently appointed to the state board of auctioneers and is a Deputy Master Commissioner in Campbell County.
He said that he's not ruling out future campaign.
"Now is not the time for me," he said. "It isn’t fair to my family or the residents of Campbell County to go forward with this if I am not fully committed. I appreciate the support I have already received in my previous campaign, as well as the commitment from everyone going forward. I hope everyone understands my position and can appreciate the fact that it was best that I make this decision before going forward."
In October, Gov. Matt Bevin appointed Daniel J. Zalla, a Fort Thomas attorney, to replace Judge Stine.
