We gave a simple prompt: Why Are You Running? Their answer is below.

Campbell County Commissioner (District 1)

By Dave Fischer

I am a life-long Campbell County resident and a 30 year business owner. I want my home county to thrive. Having a voice in our local government will provide me with the opportunity to improve the quality of life for our residents and promote business growth within our community.

I do not take these goals lightly, and if elected, they will serve as my daily guidance as county commissioner.

I am a good neighbor and a good listener, and I have heard and understand the concerns with yearly tax hikes. I would work to lessen the property tax burden on our elderly. I would also like to see business growth in Campbell County. This growth would expand and diversify the tax base and create new employment opportunities for our residents. I believe in tax abatement but only if an equal abatement is distributed to existing businesses. I am fiscally conservative and would like the opportunity to vote to balance your Campbell County budget.

I want the opportunity to use my time and my expertise to attract new businesses and help expand those already established. In one of my larger business projects, I developed a 33 home subdivision. I was responsible for all aspects of the development. From purchasing state property, to working with multiple city governments, to overseeing the implementation of required infrastructure, I developed a firsthand understanding of the struggles that business owners face, and I want the opportunity to help.

I have spoken to over 100 business owners, but not one business owner knew the name of our County Commissioner for District1. I want to change this. I will make sure that, after May 22, they know the name of their commissioner elect.

Being a 30 year business owner, I am no stranger to hard work.  I want to take on the challenge of building a better tomorrow for all Campbell County residents. The position of Campbell County Commissioner District 1 would allow me this opportunity.

My home county has provided me with an excellent education, a safe place to raise my children, and a strong sense of community. I hope one day to look back at my life, and my home, and know that I helped enrich the lives of Campbell County residents.

I will be your Conservative Voice. Please vote Fischer for Commissioner.
