Highlands High Student Named State Technology Champ

Fort Thomas School Board members congratulate state technology champion Donovan Staab.

Highlands High School student Donovan Staab will head to the national Technology Student Association (TSA) competition in Atlanta, Georgia, next month after taking first place at the state level.

Staab placed first in the CAD Architecture category at the Kentucky TSA competition held in Louisville in April. Competitors were asked to develop a set of architectural plans and related materials for an architectural design challenge. They were also asked to create both a physical and computerized model of their design.

The Technology Student Association (TSA) is a national career and technical student organization with an emphasis on science, technology, engineering and mathematics, also known as STEM subjects.

Membership in TSA includes more than 233,000 middle school and high school students from across the United States who are engaged in technology education classes. The Kentucky Chapter of TSA sent 100 students to national competition in 2017.

At its May meeting, the Fort Thomas Independent Schools Board congratulated Staab and wished him well in the national competition to be held June 22-26 in Atlanta.
