Fort Thomas Education Foundation Announces New Executive Director

The Fort Thomas Education Foundation (FTEF) has hired Amy Shaffer (HHS ’91) as Executive Director.

Amy has been active in the Fort Thomas Community since moving back in 2009 as an FTEF Board Member, Johnson Site-Based Member, and volunteer for the Fort Thomas Sesquicentennial White Dinner and City Visioning Finance Committee. In 2011 she decided to stay at home with her children leaving Fidelity Investments after 15 years in Sales and Marketing positions.

“I am excited to join the Foundation in the role of Executive Director and continue the work I’ve been doing as a volunteer for the past several years. I am looking forward to continuing to help our students and schools get the best so they can become their best.”

With an undergraduate degree in Education and a Masters in Business Administration, Amy brings broad knowledge and experience to the role.

Kevin Duke, incoming FTEF Board Chair says, “As the incoming Chair, I am thrilled to have someone of Amy’s passion and experience taking over as the Executive Director of the Foundation.  Under her leadership as outgoing chair, the FTEF, through the support of parents, teachers, and the entire community, was able to advance its mission like never before.

I am excited for all of the great things happening in our district and in the Foundation, and I am confident that Amy’s leadership will continue to help us forge ahead. “

Amy moves into this role after serving for 5 years as a Board Member, the past three as Board Chair.

The FTEF is a non-profit organization that raises money to improve Fort Thomas public schools and student resources because we’re serious about educational excellence. Since 2000, the FTEF has been able to give back nearly $12 million to FTIS due to contributions from over 1,800 donors. For more information on the FTEF or to give today go to www.ftef.org.
