The Highlands boys soccer team found itself ranked third in Kentucky in the latest Maher rankings only behind defending state champion Louisville St. Xavier and Louisville Trinity.

Highlands and Trinity met at Tower Park a few weeks ago. But lightning forced the cancellation of the game.

The Bluebirds (8-0-1 overall) own wins over two teams ranked in the top 25 in Oldham County and Henry Clay. Highlands tied fourth-ranked Lexington Dunbar and still has games against Ryle (ninth), Louisville Collegiate (seventh) and Covington Catholic (16th). The Bluebirds also travel to Indiana's third-ranked Hamilton Southeastern later in the season.

Highlands takes on Covington Holmes on Thursday. Game time is 7:00 p.m.
