It's a rare and beautiful thing to have an independent bookstore in town and the success of Blue Marble Books says so much about the support of the community and the booksellers at the shop. Stop in and browse at your leisure or ask one of the Blue Marble crew what to read next.

Peter Moore, owner of Blue Marble Books was enjoying a coffee at Grassroots & Vine and I asked him what he was reading. He shared his enthusiasm for beloved children's book author Andrew Clements' latest novel,  Friendship Wars. The middle-grade novel takes on the challenges of friendship among students in a middle school by exploring fads and the latest have to have gadgets.

Stickers, Silly Bandz, Rainbow Looms, fidget spinners . . . buttons?! A brand-new school story about friendship and fads from the bestselling author of Frindle. Andrew Clements, the beloved author of Frindle, returns with a deliciously entertaining and deeply satisfying story that will resonate with anyone who’s ever been in a classroom . . . or been a kid. A fad is a tough thing to kill, but then again, so is a friendship. - Penguin Random House
Moore and I discussed how the book would be a fantastic starting point for discussions between parents and their children. Why not read the book together and help your child conceptualize situations and challenges they will inevitably face - or already have? Books are the closest thing we get to magic when it comes to building empathy, understanding, and broadening our children's horizons without leaving the house.

Get inspired, pick up a unique birthday gift, and make sure to celebrate at the 40th Anniversary Ice Cream Social at Blue Marble Books!
