It'll now be easier to watch NKU Basketball on TV

Broadcast coverage for the 2019-20 Northern Kentucky men’s basketball team is continuing to take shape, as NKU has partnered with FOX Sports Ohio to air five home games for the coming season. Additionally, ESPN has announced the broadcast platforms for part of NKU’s home and Horizon League contests.

The team’s Dec. 8 meeting with Eastern Kentucky marks the first FOX Sports Ohio broadcast, with two additional December contests following shortly thereafter. NKU plays both Illinois State (Dec. 15) and Milwaukee (Dec. 28) on the regional sports network.

Oakland and UIC, which are scheduled for Feb. 6 and 16, respectively, are also airing on FOX Sports Ohio.

NKU’s regular season opens on ESPN3 on Nov. 5 when the Norse host UC Clermont. The team’s following three home games versus Coppin State (Nov. 17), Texas Southern (Nov. 23) and Midway (Ky.) (Nov. 25), as well as Horizon League contests at Detroit Mercy (Jan. 3) and versus Youngstown State (Jan. 16), will also be carried on ESPN3.

Both of Northern Kentucky’s games against SEC opponents, a Nov. 8 showdown at Mizzou and Nov. 29 clash at Arkansas, are being carried by SEC+, while ESPN+ is set to carry the road contest against Coastal Carolina on Nov. 12 and league matchups with Green Bay (Dec. 30), Oakland (Jan. 5) and Cleveland State (Jan. 18).

Eight games have yet to be announced, including road contests against MAC foes Ball State and Miami (Ohio) as well as the trip to reigning SoCon regular-season champion UNC Greensboro. Five Horizon League games near the end of the season have also not been determined.

The Norse have three games that will air on ESPN’s linear stations, beginning with the team’s trip to Chicago to battle the Flames on ESPN2 on Jan. 10. Each of the two matchups versus rival Wright State will be carried on ESPNU. NKU’s ESPN wildcard game against Green Bay will either air on ESPNU, if picked up as the wildcard, or ESPN3.

Northern Kentucky is led by four returning starters, including preseason all-league first-team member Jalen Tate and second-teamer Tyler Sharpe. Dantez Walton and Trevon Fualkner also started a year ago and return for the two-time regular-season league champions.

Season tickets for all 15 regular-season games and NKU’s exhibition are available at or by contacting Micki Ford (; 859-572-7848).
