"It appears they were in the house awhile. (My assistant) said all the drawers were open and the safe was lying face down," he said.
"She believes she interrupted the robbery. There were some tools left that were used to open the safe and a substantial amount of cash (was taken). I was thinking there is no way they could have busted it but I was wrong.

Ward said that the basement door was pried open and damaged and that he is still assessing what else was taken.
“Upon arrival, officers found evidence leading to believe a forced entry burglary had occurred. A search of the area for the suspect(s) was unsuccessful,” said Det. Adam Noe of Fort Thomas Police. “Based on the information obtained we believe this to be an isolated incident. With that said, it is the holiday season and as always residents should be diligent in locking their homes and vehicles.”

Fort Thomas Police are investigating the scene and chasing down leads that Ward mentions in his Facebook post.
"Was a strange truck parked around anyone’s house that afternoon? Perhaps a white or red dodge truck?"
At this time, an investigation is ongoing and headed by the Fort Thomas Police Criminal Investigation Division whom are following up on several leads and potential witnesses.
