Cold Spring Police Officer Matt Lloyd holds his state award for keeping our streets safe. He is among officers in our area who have made the most arrests for impaired driving.

Four area police officers have received Governor’s Impaired Driving Enforcement awards from the Kentucky Office of Highway Safety (KOHS) for their work keeping impaired drivers off the roads. The awards are given to officers based on the number of impaired driving arrests.

The officers received their awards at the KOHS annual awards ceremony held in downtown Lexington on December 5. Each year the agency selects about 200 officers from 175 departments across Kentucky to honor them for their efforts to target impaired driving.

Awards are divided into six divisions based on the number of officers in the department. In Division Two, for police departments with 11 to 25 officers, recipients included Cold Spring Police Officer Matt Lloyd, Alexandria Police Officer Jared Brewer and Highland Heights Officer Patrick Feldman. In Division One, for departments with 1 to 10 officers, Wilder Police Patrolman Jacob Zink received the award.

Congratulations to all the officers and their departments. Thank you for helping to keep our roads safe all year long!
