USA Today's ranking was part of their 10 Best series: Food and travel experts nominated their favorite restaurants that opened over the past 18 months, and then readers voted to select the top 10.
The winning list is made up of a wide variety of restaurants, "ranging from chef-driven fast casual concepts to high end dining with a focus on hyper-local and sustainable ingredients."
USA Today's writes, "The Baker’s Table serves rustic comfort food in the heart of Newport, Kentucky. Under the direction of Chef David Willocks, the menu focuses on seasonal and sustainable cuisine through dishes like roasted broccoli soup with white cheddar and house-made crackers, Catalan seafood stew, (a) fried chicken sandwich on a buttermilk biscuit with spicy slaw and hot sauce, or pumpkin French toast with apple cider caramel and Chantilly cream."
