Shanna Hayes' home was damaged by a serious fire on Monday, Feb. 10. |
By Jessie Eden
The community is making strides to come together for a local family affected by a house fire earlier this week.
The fire broke out on Monday, February 10, around 8:30 a.m. Thankfully, Shanna Hayes and her two boys, her father and little brother and sister escaped unharmed. But - the house is destroyed... leaving this family of six displaced.
Unfortunately, the family also lost some beloved pets in the fire. The house will need to be renovated before the family can move back in and it is unclear how much it will cost.

So, this family of six needs some help...and that is where the Fort Thomas community is coming together to make it happen.
If you would like to help, there are three ways you can assist the Hayes family in getting back on their feet;
1) Midway Cafe Fundraising Event:

On Saturday, February 22, the community will come together at Midway Cafe to raise money for the Hayes Family. "Being a part of Fort Thomas means being a part of a community. it's being a part of a family," said Erika Kraus, Midway Cafe Owner. "We have to take care of our family members when bad things happen. We are fortunate to have our business in a place that supports and tries to go above and beyond to help when crisis situations happen. It is our duty as a business, a community member and a human to support those around us."
The event runs from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. You can learn more here.
2) Drop off a Gift Card:
Fort Thomas Independent Schools are coming together to support the family with gift cards that the Hayes can use for food, clothing, etc. You can drop them off at 28 N. Fort Thomas Ave between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m.
3) Donate to the Hayes GoFundMe:
