Fort Thomas Education Foundation hosts Indoor Music Festival in support of teacher grants

Are you ready to JAM it out?

The Fort Thomas Education foundation invites the Northern Kentucky and Greater Cincinnati communities to join in on Saturday, March 14, 2020 when they host BluebirdPalooza, an indoor music festival that will amplify the Historic Newport Car Barn located in Newport, KY. Tickets are $35 and may be purchased at  Doors open 8:00 p.m. to Midnight. Ticket includes admission, snacks and entertainment.

BluebirdPalooza, sponsored by Fedders Construction, will benefit school programs and initiatives that are unable to be financed through the school district’s operating budget.  Join in this year with rocking music and an awesome party that raises money in support of the Fort Thomas Independent School District through an annual grant process.

In years past, the fundraiser event has been geared toward a dress-up, dance theme.  This year the committee is changing things up with an indoor music festival theme.  Think live music, food trucks, local libations, fun with friends, games and axe throwing (yes, axe throwing). The historic Green Line Car Barn built in 1899 and once housed streetcars and then buses, will be lit with energy, music and community fun!

Facts and Tips:

Q: What is included in the admission price?
A: Included in the $35 price of admission:  TWO live bands, FREE New Riff bourbon samplings during the first hour, FREE psychic readings, FREE games of cornhole, ping pong, pool, and more, and FREE time to dance, talk, and laugh with your friends and neighbors without your kids!

Q: Do Teachers/District Staff get any type of discount?
A: YES! District teachers and staff members only will receive one FREE drink ticket with each admission ticket purchased (limit of two drink tickets).

Q: Do I have to wear a costume?
A: NOPE, wear whatever you want!  Bluebirdpalooza is a reimagined event, so no costume required.  Think of this event as an indoor music festival and dress accordingly.  Love to wear a costume?  Go for it!  Possible ideas are rock star, concert groupie, or a Highlands Bluebird fanatic.

Q: Will there be food available?
A: YES!  A variety of food trucks will be parked right inside of the Newport Car Barn!  The price of the food is not included in the admission, however a percentage of all the proceeds will be donated back to the FTEF.  Light snacks will be available for free to all.

Q: How much are drink tickets?
A: All drink tickets are $4/ea. or $30/8 tickets.  Drink prices are as follows:
1 Ticket for:
Beer (Variety)
Wine (Variety)
Mixed Cocktails (Regular Liquors)
2 Tickets for:
Premium Bourbons (Neat or as a Mixed Cocktail)

A: Bircus Brewery from Ludlow, Kentucky will provide several selections of their own craft brews.  If we are lucky, they will also bring along some of their circus acts for our entertainment!!

Q: What bands will be playing?
A: Floyd and the Walkmen will take the stage at 9 pm.  But, arrive early and catch Highland High School graduate Josh McIntosh and Company from 8 – 9 p.m.

Q: What else can I do at Bluebirdpalooza?
A: For an additional fee, attendees can try their hand at Axe Throwing, buy tickets for several fantastic raffle prizes, and participate in split the pot.

Q: Will I need to bring cash?
A: YES, if you want to participate in split the pot and/or if you want to give a cash tip to the bartenders, psychic readers, food truck vendors, or axe throwing coach.  For everything else (drink tickets, raffle tickets, axe throwing, and food trucks), you may pay with cash or credit card.

The mission of the FTEF is to “support the educational excellence of the public schools” by providing “funds beyond the operating budget for educational programs and activities for students and staff,” per the FTEF website (  The monies raised go directly toward supporting that mission.  In the past, the FTEF has funded robotics, musical instruments, 3D printers and many other programs as well as raising capital campaign funds that go toward school renovations.
Help make a difference while having a great time for a good cause.  Join us for BluebirdPalooza Indoor Music Festival on March 14th, 8:00 p.m. to Midnight. To purchase tickets, go to Birds of a feather party together!
