by Robin Gee, city council beat editor

Wilder Police Chief Chad Martin introduced a new police officer at last month’s council meeting.

"Please join us in welcoming the newest addition to the Wilder Police Department, Officer Ryan Miller," said Martin. "Ryan comes to us from the Norfolk Police Department in Virginia, where he spent the last two years. Ryan is a Kentucky native, but is new to the Northern Kentucky area. If you see him out, please help us welcome him to our community."

Miller, who was raised in Maysville, joined the U.S. Marine Corps soon after graduating high school. He shared some of his background:

"I left Kentucky for Marine Corps Recruit Training at MCRD Parris Island in South Carolina. I would go on to serve in Columbus, Ohio, up to mid-2016 when I transferred to Quantico, Virginia. While in Virginia I began a career in Law Enforcement attending the Norfolk Police Academy and serving the City of Norfolk as a Police Officer for two years."

Miller said he was happy to continue his law enforcement career with the city of Wilder. His parents, sister, brother-in-law and nephew were all in attendance as Wilder Mayor Robert Arnold administered the oath of office.
