The Fort Thomas Police Chief Brent Moening has issued a press release with some new guidelines in response to the corona virus and how officers will be interacting with the public.

This is in an effort to protect officers from the corona virus so they can continue to serve and protect the public.
There are the main points that FTPD wants the public to be aware of;
1) INACTIVE CRIME POLICE REPORTS: If you need to file an inactive crime police report, please do so by calling Campbell County Dispatch at 859-292-3622. Examples include an inactive theft or criminal damage to property. An officer will call you and take your report over the phone. Please note that you will need to verify personal information in order to complete the report.
2) OFFICERS WILL RESPOND TO EMERGENCIES: Officers are still going to respond to emergency calls that require immediate response to ensure public safety. A 24 hour patrol will be continued around the city
3) THE FORT THOMAS POLICE STATION LOBBY WILL BE CLOSED: Although the police department lobby will be closed until further notice, an officer can still meet with you outside the city building to obtain information or take down a report.
4) OFFICERS WILL KEEP THEIR DISTANCE: You may notice officers keeping their distance from you during a call for service. Please do not take offense -- they have been instructed to do so to minImize the risk to all parties involved.
FTPD also asked for the public's patience during this time as they continue to monitor the response to this pandemic.
