Tuesday, Mar. 10: The Science of Brewing


Alexandria Brewing Company and the Campbell County Library host "The Science of Brewing" on Mar. 10.

Founder and Head Brewer of Alexandria Brewing Company, Andy Reynolds, will give a tour of his brewery, discuss their beer making processes and the technology and scientific knowledge required for making beer. Andy attended the Siebel Institute of Technology in Chicago and graduated in Advanced Brewing Theory. The first brewery opened in the Cincinnati area over 200 years ago and ever since the craft and product have become important to the area’s
economy and culture.

Thursday, Mar. 12: The Life and Crimes of George Remus


Author Bob Batchelor hosts a talk on his new book on Mar. 12.

Author Bob Batchelor, a critically-acclaimed, bestselling cultural historian and biographer, tells the incredible story of Cincinnatian George Remus, his rise to infamy in the Prohibition Era and his ultimate downfall. The Bourbon King: The Life and Crimes of George Remus, Prohibition’s Evil Genius is a true-life story of love, murder, an extravagant lifestyle, and how Remus grew an illegal bourbon empire that stretched nationwide. He murdered his wife Imogene in cold blood in Eden Park and the resulting trial was a national media sensation. Batchelor currently teaches in the Media, Journalism & Film Department at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio.

Raise Money at Barleycorn's for Dolly Parton's Imagination Library: Mar. 25


Help raise money for Campbell County children who are a part of Dolly Parton's Imagination Library on Mar. 25 at Barleycorns in Cold Spring.


The Campbell County Library is hosting a fundraiser for Dolly Parton's Imagination Library at Barleycorn's in Cold Spring on Wednesday, March 25.

The money raised will help aid the cost of mailing books to local children in Campbell County. Participation in the program costs around $25 a year per child. Nearly 2,500 children under the age of 5 currently participate in the program.

Barleycorn's will donate up to 15% of all food and beverage tabs of their sales that evening... but you must show this coupon.

Go A.J. Jolly Park!


Campbell County Parks reopened on Mar. 2 and additional amenities will open Mar. 23.

As the weather begins to break and the sun starts to come out more often, consider heading to the park! The gates are now open at AJ Jolly Park.

Additional amenities like the Ranger Station and bathrooms will open on March 23. The park has also revamped its reservation system for its camping facilities and picnic shelters. Just use the "Make a Reservation" link on the park's website. RV camping begins March 27 with all camping kicking off on April 24.

This Spring and early Summer, AJ Jolly will be working hard on several park improvements;

- Full event calendar of festivals and family programming
- Paving of park roads
- Repairs to walking trail, bathroom and dock
- Pickle Ball lines added to the tennis courts
- New private picnic shelter available for rental
- EZ Launch on the kayak dock
