When Johnson Elementary School teachers, staff and students return to in-person learning next fall, if all goes well, they will have brand new school buildings on their campus. Construction has continued on the project, and Director of Operations
Jerry Wissman shared photos of the progress at the April meeting of the Fort Thomas Independent Schools Board.
"The project has continued on a regular monthly schedule," he said. "The workforce has not been impacted by the health crisis much at all. Morel staff is fully onsite as are their contractors. A couple of guys were sent home to be monitored, but they’ve maintained a steady workforce on the project."
He noted that he and Morel are keeping a close eye on international and national supply chain routes. Some of the project’s materials could be delayed, but so far this has not happened. Fortunately, businesses in the construction trades have been able to keep working, he said.
He noted neighbors can now see the progress on the site very clearly. Buildings are taking shape. Concrete pours have happened for some of the floors. Plumbers and electricians have been roughing their work and working with masons to coordinate. Large mechanical units have been installed. Steel is on site and roofs are beginning to take shape.
Here are some of the photos he shared as part of his presentation at the school board meeting
