Newport Fire Rings Peace Bell For Victims of Covid-19

Newport Fire Department rings Peace Bell on Easter Sunday to honor Covid-19 victims.

By Jessie Eden

In case you missed it this past Sunday, the Newport Fire Department did something very special.

Per Governor Beshear's request during this pandemic, the Newport Fire Department rang the Peace Bell on Easter Sunday at 10 a.m. to honor those who have died from Covid-19 and those who cannot be with their families at this time.

The Facebook video, posted by Newport Professional Firefighters Local 45 IAFF below was posted with the following caption;

"We cannot gather with our families or friends this Easter Sunday. We can, however, ring our bells at 10am each day to unite in solidarity as we remember our fellow Americans who lost their lives, and to those who are feeling alone, Newport Firefighters are thinking of you."
