"NKY has been hit hard and we've worked hard to get this done with St. Elizabeth," said Gov. Beshear.
With Phase I on the horizon and reopening some businesses starting next week, Governor Beshear started his daily press conference by commending Mississippi’s governor, Tate Reeves, who he says paused a planned reopening of their economy because of a big spike in positive Covid-19 cases.
“I want to do this right, but this virus calls the shots. I know the decisions I'm going to make are going to be the difference between life and death for real people. Kentucky won’t be the fastest (to reopen) but we’re trying to be the smartest."
Gov. Beshear announced a partnership with the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce and Distillers Association to get PPE and hand sanitizer to the state’s small businesses.
Minimum requirements and industry-specific guidelines are now posted to the website. Gov. Beshear's Chief of Staff, LaTasha Buckner said that businesses who can’t meet the minimum requirements or industry-specific guidelines cannot reopen.
"Just because you can open doesn’t mean you’re ready and doesn’t mean you should," said Gov. Beshear.
