Fort Thomas Matters was on the scene and talked to the occupant of the home, who rents the bottom floor. He said that he was working on his car in the home's garage. He turned around and saw that a fire had suddenly started, which was unable to be controlled.

He believes his car to be totaled and extensive damage in the home. He said that he hopes to be able to grab some essentials and plans to stay with family in Northern Kentucky while the extent of the damage is known.

Neighbors on the street said that once emergency responders were on scene, it took them about 15 minutes to fully control the fire.

Vernon Lane is located off of Highland Avenue in Fort Thomas, near the opening to Highland Park.
