|Governor Beshear discusses the Kentucky State Fair and capacity requirements moving forward.|
Governor Andy Beshear announced Tuesday afternoon that guidelines will be expanded to allow more than 33% capacity for restaurants in the near future. This is subject to Kentucky's handle on the virus...but, if all goes well, capacity will eventually increase to 50%.
"At the month date operating at 33%, we’ll increase capacity to 50%, this is the next phase. We will have those exact dates in the near future but it will be one month from the original reopening date of those businesses," said Gov. Beshear. "If it can stay within a range, around the positivity rate, then we believe we can still handle the reopening and do it safely. We need people to continue to be tested and we have got to continue to build on contact tracing."
The Kentucky State Fair Will Move Forward with ChangesGov. Beshear also announced that a proposed plan for the Kentucky State Fair will move forward with substantial changes and guidelines. "We have approved the State Fair proposal but it will look very different this year. We are keeping the agricultural competitions, this is all subject to us having a handle on the virus. The one thing that will not be the same is that the State Fair will not be able to use the expo-center which has the field hospital in it. We are seeing surges in other states so it will remain in place so we can be prepared if we need it."
Asymptomatic Covid-19 TransmissionDr. Steven Stack also addressed a recent WHO article that stated that asymptomatic transmission is rare. Dr. Stack stated that he respects WHO but he emphasized that there is still a lot of unknowns in regards to transmission. “The evidence and the jury is still out. Some modeling has shown up to 40% transmission from asymptomatic people. I would not take one data point – one news story – that allows people to believe that it doesn’t spread from person to person because the evidence shows that it does," said Dr. Stack.
