NewportFORWARD, Newport's comprehensive plan for redevelopment, is inviting the public to participate in a virtual public forum on next Thursday, June 18 at 6 p.m.

The virtual public forum will remain open to the public until July 5th. You can find the link here.

According to the City of Newport's website, the Comprehensive Plan is Newport's most important document regarding growth, development, and change. It establishes government policies to help guide public and private activities as they relate to land use, transportation, economic development and resource conservation.

The Comprehensive Plan is also the basis for land development regulations and decisions (rezonings, conditional use permits), capital improvements (parks, infrastructure), transportation, environmental and historic resource protection initiatives.

The City of Newport also emphasized the importance of Public Engagement for this project on its website. "This 2020 Plan Update will be YOUR plan and must reflect the community’s vision, goals, and priorities for the future."

To Participate:

- View the invitation and RSVP today.

- You can also email to get more updated meeting information. If you cannot attend on June 18th, you can view the entire meeting presentation and participate in the forum online until July 5th.

For more information or to get more involved visit the City of Newport’s website or Facebook page.
