A video captured by a concerned neighbor and posted on his Facebook page led to Fort Thomas Police investigating an allegation of animal cruelty this evening.

Fort Thomas Police Sergeant Nathan Day said police caught wind of a video that showed a man tossing his dog from his porch onto the ground.

The dog did not immediately seem to be injured, but the video caught the attention of many in the community.

Now police say that Animal Control and the County Attorney are aware and will also be conducting their own investigations.

FTPD released a statement this evening:

"On July 23rd, 2020, at approximately 7:30pm, the Fort Thomas Police Department was notified about a video circulating on social media that appeared to show a dog being picked up and tossed from a front porch, onto the ground below by an unknown male. After receiving more information regarding the location of the incident, officers responded to the scene to investigate. Officers were able to speak with all involved parties and check on the well-being of the dog. According to the subject who filmed the video, the incident took place earlier in the afternoon and he notified Animal Control at that time. The Fort Thomas Police Department is filing a report for the incident and will be consulting with the County Attorney in the morning reference possible charges. Animal Control will conduct their own investigation."
