Great Creature Hunt Photo Contest

By Chuck Keller

Bored? Need something to do? Want to be amazed? Possibly win a prize? Then the Great Creature Hunt Photo Contest is for you.

The backyards of Fort Thomas are filled with so many creatures that we often overlook. The Fort Thomas Forest Conservancy wants you to take notice of all of the creatures with whom you share your yard. So we’ve designed this photo scavenger hunt contest to get you outside and to explore the world around you.

Our hope is that you will be amazed by how many creatures you can find in one hour when you start paying close attention. Please be careful if you lift rocks or logs because you want to know where you’re placing your fingers and that you won’t harm something.

Here’s what to do:

Grab your camera, head outside and photograph as many different species you can find in one hour. We encourage you to use your own backyard, but you may also go to the woods for another perspective. Or, spend 30 minutes one day in your yard and 30 minutes another day in our local forests. We can’t wait to see what you find.

Each member of the family may enter their favorite photo in the contest.

Photos Due by:
5:00 p.m. Friday, July 31.
