On Friday, Flipdaddy's Brilliant Burgers & Craft Beer Bar announced that its Newport Pavilion location has closed.

The closure was announced via a simple sign on the window which reads; "To our valued guests, vendors and community: we appreciate all of your support, we are closed for business."

Back in 2013, before signing a lease with Newport Pavilion, Flipdaddy's had been considering a move to the area and was very close to signing a lease in Fort Thomas at the Fort Thomas Plaza.

Over the past 6 years, the restaurant has had four locations in Newport, Mariemont, Symmes Township and Union. The Newport location opened in April 2015. This location seated 287 and included two different private dining areas, a large patio with firepit and a large bar with 72-beer taps.

Back in 2014, Newport Central Catholic grad and COO of Flipdaddy's Ed Biery told FTM that he had wanted to return to Newport and he had high hopes for the dining experience here. "I grew up in Newport so it’s neat to come back to my roots. The burger is what sets us apart. The proprietary blend of beef, fresh buns, fresh ingredients. It’s just a better meal. We are providing an up-scale burger experience without the upscale prices.”

Flipdaddy's had previously filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in December 2018. At that time, according to its filing, the company owed more than $2.3 million to 19 creditors.

In January 2020, the location in Union closed. Right now, it is unclear if the Mariemont and Symmes Township locations are still open and/or will remain open.
