WEBN announced on Thursday morning that the WEBN / Western and Southern Fireworks will take place on September 6. The fireworks will be held in a secret location and televised on Local 12 News.
Per Local 12, the fireworks will be televised at 9:07 p.m. The fireworks location will remain secret to comply with state and local orders preventing large gatherings. According to iHeartMedia Cincinnati, the theme will be Hindsight 2020 to uplift the Tri-State during the pandemic.

The announcement about the fireworks was made via WEBN's Twitter and Instagram pages. The Riverfest celebration itself was cancelled by both the City of Cincinnati and the City of Newport in July.
At the end of July, Mayor John Cranley announced during a press conference that Riverfest would not take place this year due to Covid-19 on the Cincinnati side of the river.
Earlier in July, the city of Newport withdrew from the festivities as well. In a statement, the city said; "The COVID-19 Outbreak has caused a number of notable events in the City to be cancelled. Based on current restrictions and other logistical issues the City has decided not to participate in Riverfest 2020 and will not issue any associated City permits or licenses."
