Fort Thomas Celebrates Veterans Day with Virtual Program

Our tradition has been to gather at the Charters for Freedom monument, but this year the program is online. Nothing can stop Fort Thomas from honoring our veterans on Veterans Day!

by Robin Gee

All are welcome to join in honoring our veterans in a special virtual program created by veteran residents of our city with help from city leaders along with Fort Thomas’ own Boy Scout Troop 437 and many others in our community.

Participants include Mayor Eric Haas, Navy Captain Jerry Blesch, Edward Goode, Pastor of Christ Church of Fort Thomas, Army Specialist Jack Perkins, Air Force Captain Sean Donelan, Marine Corporal Will Martin, Army Sgt. Eric Scherpenberg, and Army Sgt. Major Lonnie Slone and Army Staff Sgt. Greg Mounce. Boy Scout Troop 437 and their leader, Michelle Hathorn will be joined by the Brotherhood Singers of Northern Kentucky, and bugler, Eric Steiden.

The program, "Fort Thomas Salutes All Veterans 2020 Veterans Day Celebration" was produced by Harris Media (of Newport) and will be available online starting 7:15 a.m. on Wednesday, November 11.

The virus has interrupted so many public events this year but Fort Thomas is proud to continue the tradition of honoring our vets and the sacrifices they have made for us.
