Fort Thomas is one step closer to getting a new medical office specializing in orthopedics and sports medicine. At its meeting last week, the Fort Thomas Planning and Zoning Commission approved the Stage One plan for the development of the office to be built at the corner of Highland Country Club Drive and US 27.
The Planning Commission voted to recommend the project to city council for final approval after hearing a presentation by the developer, Ashley Builders. The facility is likely to be on the council agenda for its April meeting.
The project would be a new location for Beacon Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine, joining the company’s system of eight orthopedic care locations in the Greater Cincinnati area. It would be the second location for the company in Northern Kentucky.
The 8,000-square-foot, single-story building will be adjacent to the Pinnacle development project in that area. The commission ruled that the building meets the requirements and parameters of the Professional Office Zone in place on that property and also fits the intent of the city’s Comprehensive Plan.
Off street parking for 46 cars will be available that includes parking for about 12 employees. If approved at the April meeting, construction would begin soon after with an anticipated completion date of the end of the year.
