The Highlands Bluebirds softball team (15-4 overall) dominated the county rival Bishop Brossart Lady 'Stangs (5-6), 17-0 in four innings on the road for a fourth straight win.
Highlands batted .552 (16-for-29) in the victory. Junior Anna Greenwell homered twice going 3-for-4 with nine runs batted in and four runs scored. Sophomore Carly Cramer went 3-for-3 with a home run, four RBI and a run scored.
"I had a (Bishop Brossart) grandmother come up to me after the game and ask if they could have our hitting coach because we had so many hits one through nine," said Milt Horner, Highlands Head Coach. "We shifted some things around (with freshman Michelle Barth unable to play). (Junior) Hailey Parks stepped up. She caught a couple balls in right field. I was very proud of her."
Freshman Bailey Markus led off going 2-for-2 with two walks and four runs scored. Senior Caroline Class went 2-for-3 with three runs scored and an RBI and sophomore Kennedy Baioni went 2-for-3. Senior Bri Tharps, Markus and Baioni had one double each.
"Everybody in the line-up has really been getting a hold of the ball," Cramer said. "I think it's because we've had a lot of hitting practice just trying to make contact. We switched up our line-up, too."
Baioni pitched another gem on the mound moving to 9-1 on the season. Baioni struck out seven and walked just one in the no-hitter.
Highlands travels to Independence to face Simon Kenton (6-6) on Tuesday. Game time is 5:30 p.m.
