Wilder Roofing company relocates, purchases office building in Cold Spring, Newport

AnyWeather, a 10-year-old roofing, HVAC and restoration company, has been growing steadily over the past decade in both services offered and market share. In fact, the company, which also has a location in Dayton, Ohio, has outgrown its leased offices in Wilder, and owner Phil Griffin has purchased not one, but two Northern Kentucky properties to accommodate that growth.


CEO Glenn Mogle said the company has purchased an office building in Cold Spring that will serve as the new headquarters for the firm with offices and a new showroom.

Located at 1010 Windsor Drive, the building offers about 16,000 square feet. It has two tenants, a dental office (Dr. Rachel Gold - Total Health Dentistry) and a chiropractor on the first floor. AnyWeather offices will fill the remaining space on the first floor as well as the entire second floor. The move to the new space is planned for the end of May.

In addition to the office building, the company has also purchased a historic granary in Newport near Route 9 (Double A Highway) that includes the original building and an additional outbuilding. While Mogle said they want to wait before deciding just how they will use the original building, the plan is to use the outbuilding for the company’s warehousing needs.

Growth and expansion


Mogle explained that AnyWeather started out primarily as a roofing business but has expanded its services over the years. "It started with roofing, doing residential reroofing working with insurance companies. Over the years, that segment of our business has grown to include new construction, commercial properties," he said.

Another large part of the company’s business is its renovation and mitigation services. When homes are flooded or a sewer backs up or there is a fire, AnyWeather works with homeowners and insurance companies to repair the damage. “Getting them to be whole again is a big part of our business,” he said.

In recent years, the company has added on a third sector of its business — sales, installation, maintenance and service of HVAC equipment, such as air conditioning units or furnaces.

The new larger space offers the company an opportunity to grow into even more areas. "We are looking forward to our own bricks and mortar, to have more of presence... What we’re building up there is something we can actually bring customers into, and eventually we’ll have a showroom where we can expand another aspect of our business...selling flooring and cabinetry. People can come in and shop," he said.

Adding new areas of business is one aspect, but the company’s growth plans also include expansion into new markets within the region. "Currently we have a very large market share of the roofing industry in Northern Kentucky, and we definitely want to expand that — and we want to carry that same success across the river into Cincinnati and even south. We’ll service all the way down to Louisville. We’ll go to Lexington. So, it’s a big footprint that we want to keep expanding," he said.  

Unique approach to personnel


AnyWeather has about 50 employees, said Mogle. 

AnyWeather has worked with students in the construction program at Northern Kentucky University and is also is involved with high school programs. Mogle takes the message out to the schools about all the types of careers available and that those careers can be lucrative and rewarding in many ways.

The industry overall has been experiencing a shortage in skilled workers that has been ongoing for several years. "I can remember my dad and mom telling me you have to go to college, you have to get a degree, you don’t want to work manual, and I think that was the common sentiment for a large portion of the generation, and we are suffering the results of that today. People that know how to go out and use their hands and have a skilled trade are in very very high demand."

Once someone comes on board, he will give them a very clear roadmap on how to advance through the company’s ranks. "From a laborer to a carpenter’s helper to a carpenter, to a lead and on. It’s nothing short of a pathway with clearly marked signs along the way,"he said.

Why having a presence matters


Mogle he is excited to have a new bricks-and-mortar location where customers can come and visit, ask questions and explore.

"We look forward to being in the new location and really being able to showcase our company, open it up for people to see...Come in and talk to us...It’s really about focusing on people and letting them know there is a place you can go and get an honest answer from people who really care...It’s not just about a dollar figure on somebody’s forehead."

Events to celebrate the move


The company is planning a larger open house and grand opening in July that will include some fun, refreshments and a number of opportunities to learn more about the company with coupons for free inspections for roofing or HVAC, as well as information on the company’s mitigation and renovation services. 

The public also is invited to a ribbon cutting ceremony at the new location at 1010 Windsor Drive in Cold Spring scheduled for Friday, June 18, at 10 a.m.
