Free toys will be distributed for children ages 10 and under in Newport, Kentucky, on Thursday.
The toy giveaway is one of many OneSource Center for Nonprofit Excellence is coordinating throughout the summer.
The program, called "Unplug and Play," is an initiative by community organizations and nonprofits to encourage kids in the region to step away from technology and share the joy of playing. Sponsors include Toys for Tots and Good360.
Christie Brown, CEO of OneSource Center for Nonprofit Excellence, said it's an honor to participate in this program.
"The last year has been especially challenging to children nationwide," Brown said. "The joy on the children's faces when they receive the toys is incredible."
The organization coordinated shipments of 16,000 toys to regional nonprofits that will distribute them throughout June and July.
Thursday's distribution will be from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Brighton Center, located at 799 Ann Street, Newport, KY. The event is first-come, first-serve.
