Village Players of Fort Thomas is excited to announce the release of its second virtual New Works production, "To Make a Long Story Short…", a video production of 6 new plays.
New Works is the established playwrighting workshop group under the umbrella of Village Players and has been staging at least one production of a collection of ten-minute plays since 2017. "To Make a Long Story Short…" was filmed in late May and released for viewing to ticket holders via an email link starting June 12th, 2021.
Director Nathan Henegar is excited about the reach that recorded performances has given the group. “Virtual theatre has been great for Village Players because it’s let us expand our audience outside the 275 loop,” he explains. “People who wanted to watch our performances but couldn't because of distance are now able to from their couches at home, and in their comfiest of clothes.”
Village also learned a lot about producing virtual theatre from last year’s well- received first streaming production. “We upgraded the sound with this recording and hope people enjoy it even more than the last!” says Henegar.
To Make a Long Story Short… features six short plays by local playwrights who regularly meet with the New Works group: Chris Bishop, Bill Brohaugh, Lisa Holt, Roger Collins, A.K. Forbes, Judy Sceifres, and Eric Thomas.
Henegar has assembled a cast of new and familiar faces to perform on the Village Players stage: Peggy Allen, Rachel Baker, Chris Bishop, C.J. Bossart, Jen Davis, Nathan Henegar, Katie Jensen, Stephanie Klein, Ben Lacy, Erin Marie Schwartz, Alex Walz, and Aimée Ward.
Tickets are $10 and available online at villageplayers.org. Links will be received via email.
