To ring in the end of summer and beginning of a new season, Newport on the Levee will celebrate the openings of two local concepts and partake in city-wide Labor Day Weekend festivities. Wooden Cask, a walk-up taproom, will preview its space to the community this weekend, and Beeline, a full-scale cocktail bar with an expansive patio, will debut its concept on Saturday, Sept. 18. Additionally, on Sunday, Sept. 5, the community is invited to Riverfest on the Levee, a day of live music and entertainment in honor of the 45th annual Labor Day Weekend tradition.
Wooden Cask will softly open this weekend in a 2,400-square-foot space, featuring both indoor and outdoor dining and an open-air patio that will be activated throughout the year. The walk-up taproom will be surrounded by garage-style doors that open up to the property, inviting the community to come in and stay awhile. Guests can sip on craft brews, wine and seltzers, including the exclusive Blueberry Levee Lager only available at this location, as well as snack on delicious bites from buffalo chicken dip and beer cheese pretzels to wood grilled pizzas with vegan substitutes.
“After initially popping up at the Box Park last year, we really got a feel for the community and knew this was a concept they would be excited for,” said Karen Schiltz, owner of Wooden Cask.
“Our space is perfect for all-weather – if you’re hot, come inside; if it’s a nice day, we can open up the garage doors. Guests can ride their bike up and drop it at a bike rack, grab a drink and walk around the property. It’s designed to be accommodating for whatever people need that day and we can’t wait to be back brewing at the Levee.”
On Sunday, Sept. 5, the community is invited to Riverfest on the Levee, an extension of the annual city-wide celebration. The Levee will be activated all day with a variety of entertainment, including complimentary face painting, henna artists, sports coverage on the massive LED screens and live music by Loopman Dan and Frankly Speaking. Throughout the event, participating restaurants and retailers will also offer exclusive specials and discounts. At 9 p.m., guests will have prime viewing of the WEBN fireworks show along the Ohio River presented by Rozzi’s Famous Fireworks, as well as a special “end of show” fireworks display on top of The Exchange. To ensure the health and safety of guests and employees, Newport on the Levee will be closely monitoring the situation and encouraging guests to social distance with spaced out turf squares for fireworks viewing, enhanced cleaning protocols, complimentary masks and event signage. The celebrations continue later in the month with the opening of Beeline, a full-scale cocktail bar owned and operated by Cincinnati-based hospitality company Four Entertainment Group (4EG). Beeline occupies a 2,800-square-foot space, complete with garage-style doors, a patio bar and unbeatable views of the Ohio River, bridges and skyline. The concept will offer a wide selection of high quality, in-house ingredients and beverages, featuring a seasonal cocktail menu with fun garnishes, such as the fan-favorite Bend the Rails with Ketel One Peach & Orange Blossom Vodka, honey-infused simple syrup, fresh lemon and peach juice and club soda. Beeline will also offer draft wine and beer as well as house shots. 4EG owns and operates The Buzz, a sister concept serving up craft cocktails and frozen drinks at Bridgeview Box Park.
“While summer is winding down, the excitement and buzz at Newport on the Levee is not,” said Regan Thomas, leasing representative for North American Properties (NAP). “Wooden Cask and Beeline are perfect additions to our mix at the Levee, bringing energy, patio dining with incredible views and refreshing beverages. This is just the beginning of an incredible season and we’re looking forward to sharing with the community all that we have in store.”
In addition to Wooden Cask and Beeline, NAP recently announced Amador, a Cuban and Latin American fusion restaurant slated to open at Newport on the Levee early spring 2022, and Sage, a multi-discipline yoga studio opening later this fall. This summer, Annabelle Arthur Boutique and Beef Jerky Experience debuted their concepts in Trade™, the revolving retail market located in The Gallery. Each of these unique concepts come as part of NAP’s larger strategy to bring an experiential mix of restaurants, retail and entertainment to the riverfront property.
