PCA Architecture Announces New CEO

Emma Adkisson will become the CEO of PCA Architecture starting January 1.

PCA Architecture, a Northern Kentucky-based architectural design firm, is pleased to announce that Ms. Emma Adkisson, AIA, LEED AP, will become sole owner and CEO of the Firm, effective January 1, 2022.  Ms. Adkisson, currently a Principal at PCA, joined the Firm in 2017 as the Director of Design for commercial and residential projects. She became a co-owner of the firm in 2020, alongside Jim Kaiser, who will step down from his role as Principal when Ms. Adkisson assumes leadership.

Ms. Adkisson, an award-winning architect and entrepreneur, has 17 years of comprehensive professional experience as an architect. She began her career in Jackson Hole, Wyoming where she worked on an array of typologies in both urban and rural communities. Her growing body of work includes high end business environments, commercial, retail, multi-family residential, single family custom residential, cultural, master planning and educational facilities with an emphasis in sustainable architecture.

Mr. Kaiser will continue to be an integral part of the PCA team and will continue to serve his current clients with the same exceptional high-quality service, as well as take on new projects for PCA. He will have the opportunity to focus more on what he loves about the profession, which is working directly with clients and documenting buildings.

“Over the course of my 24 years with the firm, the last 13 years as a partner, it has been very rewarding to have been a part of a firm that has created many wonderfully built environments for our clients. The leadership example provided by my former partners and firm founders, Andrew Piaskowy and Ralph Cooper, has been instrumental in my professional growth,” said Mr. Kaiser.

“Under the new leadership by Emma, who has brought a fresh new perspective and ideas since joining the firm, I look forward to PCA’s continued growth while still providing the same excellent design and service our clients have been accustomed to,” he continued.
PCA Architecture was formed in 1980 by Andrew Piaskowy, with Ralph Cooper joining the ownership team shortly thereafter.  Mr. Kaiser joined PCA in 1997 and became a co-owner in 2008 with Andrew Piaskowy and Ralph Cooper. After Andrew’s passing from brain cancer in 2019, Ms. Adkisson joined Mr. Kaiser as co-owner.

“I have so much faith in this company and this team. It is one of the greatest honors of my life to be able to lead this team of exceptional humans as we continue to bring our clients’ visions for their buildings to life. We are changing people’s lives through the medium of design.” said Ms. Adkisson. “I am excited and energized to guide the firm towards more than just a next chapter … but into the sequel.”

A Kentucky native and graduate of the University of Kentucky, Ms. Adkisson has won numerous design awards and participated in several leadership programs, including the Leadership Northern Kentucky Class of 2020 and the American Institute of Architects Cincinnati Vision Program in 2018.
