At about 1 p.m. today, a person walking on the railroad tracks on the bridge near the intersection of Central and 12th Streets was hit by a CSX Corporation train. The person, reported to be a man in his 40s, was rushed to the University of Cincinnati Hospital by Newport Fire and EMS.
The extent of his injuries is not yet known but he is in critical condition, according to police.
The company issued this statement: “CSX appreciates the swift response by Campbell County emergency personnel and reminds the public that any activity on or near a rail line is dangerous.”
