Big moves are taking place with Strong's Brick Oven Pizzeria. After a hiatus to regroup and recover from the pandemic, the owners announced the original location at 336 Monmouth Street in Newport will reopen in January 2022.

Owner Amanda Bauman-Knight said she is "humbled and honored" to announce the reopening of the Newport store with the support of a new partnership group. She explained the Newport location was closed temporarily last spring to focus hiring, training and taking care of the staff who worked so hard though the pandemic.

"Our staff is our family, and we needed to focus on helping each other. Giving them well deserved time off, promotions, restructuring and some well-deserved mental health days. Distribution has been a challenge, and the demand for our product has never stopped but only increased," she said.

Strong's Newport location is set in one of the oldest standing buildings in Newport. "We are preserving the incredible history this area has to offer. We are excited to reopen the doors and will announce a grand re-opening after the holiday season," Knight said.

The company has locations in Lawrenceburg, Indiana, and in Reading, Ohio. The new location will be the third in Kentucky joining Newport and Hebron. It is located at 10336 US 42 in Union.

"This location will carry the charm and nostalgia of the city it is set in while serving our award winning 'Old World Style Brick Oven Pizza,' delicious hero sandwiches and famous meatballs. Strong's Pizza–Union is set in a house and will also feature a quaint bourbon bar rightfully named Raiders Reserve in support of Ryle High School located across the street. The Strong's family and crew are excited to bring brick oven pizza to the city of Union. We are proud to give this area a spot to call their neighborhood pizzeria," said Knight.

"We are thankful for our amazing customers and base of brick oven fans that have kept our company striving and going strong all these years. They had our backs through the pandemic, and we are working hard to bring a Strong's to a neighborhood near you. Great food, great atmosphere, stellar service and outstanding pizza. Stay strong, pizza fans!"
