Cincinnati Children's inks deal to acquire Northern Kentucky practices

River Hills Pediatrics is located at 7831 Alexandria Pike in Alexandria.

Cincinnati Children’s Hospital is expanding its presence in Northern Kentucky with the addition of a physician practice that includes three offices in Campbell and Boone counties.

River Hills Pediatrics — with medical offices in Alexandria, Southgate and Florence — will be rebranded as part of Cincinnati Children’s effective Feb. 1, 2022.

Dr. Steve Davis, COO of Cincinnati Children’s, said River Hills fits with the medical center’s mission. The change is part of a continuing effort by the medical center to expand and improve primary care for children across the region, the health system said.

Over 50 years experience in NKY. Call now, mention FTM. (859) 287-2499.

“Primary care is central to our vision to influence the outcomes and well-being of children in Cincinnati and beyond,” Davis said in a release. “We want to ensure that every child is on a path to reach their full potential.”

River Hills, which launched in 1969, is led by Dr. Jim Otrembiak, who will continue seeing patients.

The practice includes another doctor as well as two physician assistants and a staff of more than a dozen.

Otrembiak, who has been with the practice since 1984, approached Cincinnati Children’s about the possibility of his practice joining the medical center.

“We will have the support of Cincinnati Children’s to continue our patient care and services,” Otrembiak said. “The parents who rely on us can be assured that their children’s providers are going to stay the same. The community thinks highly of Cincinnati Children’s, and I think the combination is a win-win.”

Otrembiak, who completed his residency as a new doctor at Cincinnati Children’s in 1983, said his group’s patients will benefit from the medical center’s resources. In addition, he said, joining Cincinnati Children’s will ensure patient families and employee families are cared for far into the future.

River Hills will be renamed as a Cincinnati Children’s practice. Two locations will stay the same:

-Cincinnati Children’s Alexandria Primary Care, 7831 Alexandria Pike
-Cincinnati Children’s Southgate Primary Care, 525 Alexandria Pike (Suite 320 of the South Hill Professional Building)
-The River Hills location in Florence will join with Cincinnati Children’s Florence Primary Care, located at 10032 Demia Way.

The acquisition comes about a year after Cincinnati Children’s acquired Suburban Pediatric Associates and Whole Child Pediatrics, which were also rebranded as part of Cincinnati Children’s.

Cincinnati Children’s offers primary care offices in Avondale, North Fairmount, Anderson Township, Fairfield, Florence, Liberty Township, Mason, Springdale, and Southeast Indiana as well as at three school-based health centers in Cincinnati.
